Did you know that Black women are starting businesses faster than any other group of entrepreneurs?
Businesses owned by women overall grew by 21% over the last 5 years, with companies owned by Black women increasing by an impressive 50%, according to the annual State of Women Owned Business Report.
Another group of business owners, Latinx women, make up 31% of all new women-owned businesses which is double their share of the overall population.
At Ureeka, we track these kinds of numbers closely because we know that not only are these entrepreneurs creating economic value, they are doing more with less, fighting hard for every dollar of revenue while also facing bias in credit scoring, difficulty getting loans and unfavorable investment terms.
This holiday season, let’s do more than celebrate those business owners, let’s pay them. Let’s shop their art, fashion, books, food, consumer products and more.
We asked our community to share their respective businesses and products/services, and today we are unveiling part 1 to showcase an array of creativity, innovation and some great gift ideas.
