For Ranay Orton, the founder of Glow By Daye, making the jump to entrepreneur was all about freedom, adventure and limitless potential. As she built a highly successful career as a sales professional at Fortune 100 companies in the nutrition and medical spaces, Orton was also building something else.
That side hustle quickly grew into a product line of sleep bonnets based on the observation that Black women were forced to purchase products lacking in quality, fit and design.
After initially growing demand via Amazon, Orton was ready to launch the next big thing, a satin scarf line, but she needed help to develop additional channels, increase customer growth and create a runway that matched her vision for the business.
The Ureeka moment
Ureeka matched Orton with Quiana Cloud, a strategic marketer and brand builder with 15+ years experience at Fortune 500 companies. Together, they worked to develop a roadmap that included tools like social media, SMS and email.
Orton and Cloud also worked together to set goals and KPIs, and use existing customer data to build a full marketing funnel that increased revenue while also acquiring new audiences.

The impact
With the runway in place, Orton started executing and Glow By Daye not only successfully launched the new LuxStretch Scarf line, she increased online sales revenue by 6x year-over-year.
Orton also onboarded an operations manager, digital marketing manager and a third-party partner to run social media advertising so she could focus on the bigger vision for the business.
